The very first PSL final was played abroad. The UAE hosted the whole of Season 1 because Pakistan was not staging international cricket at the time.
Islamabad United chased 175 with ease. Dwayne Smith blazed 73 to set up the win.
Andre Russell, the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, took 3/37 in the final. Misbah-ul-Haq became the first-ever PSL-winning captain.

Quetta Gladiators had lost the 2016 and 2017 finals. In 2019, they were a different side. Chasing only 139, they lost two wickets and got home with two overs unused.
Shane Watson batted with experience and control. Sarfaraz Ahmed got his tactics right throughout the tournament. For Peshawar, this was their third final defeat in four years.

Season 5 was interrupted by the pandemic. The final was pushed from March to November. When it eventually arrived, Babar Azam made it look routine.
His 63 not out took Karachi Kings past Lahore’s 134 with barely any drama. He controlled the chase from the first over to the last. This is still the only PSL title Karachi have ever won.
Season 6: Multan Sultans, 2021

Mohammad Rizwan lifted the trophy in his first season as captain.
